Robotic Pool Cleaners Tips

Robotic pool cleaners are some of the easiest things to use.  Let’s face it, it is just a glorified vacuum cleaner.  However, I have learned some great tips for using robotic pool cleaners.

The first set of tips revolve around safety.  Owning a swimming pool is a huge responsibility.  There are many swimming pool accidents every year and by their nature many involve children.  Therefore, when using your pool cleaner, you need to remember these safety tips.

  1. The best advice is to read you manual.  Make sure you understand how you are supposed to use your swimming pool cleaner.
  2. Never use your automatic swimming pool cleaner with people in the pool.  You need to pull it out before people get in.
  3. Never get the power supply unit wet.  The power transformer is a dangerous device.  It is also very expensive to repair.  You have to keep it dry and cool.
  4. Make sure that the power cord is not torn open.  There is electricity in your pool cleaner so you need to inspect the power cord to make sure that it does not expose the inside power lines.  The power cord is also expensive to replace.  But, you can buy pool cleaner parts at a lot of stores, including my favorite, ebay.

After you take care of safety, you want to be able to optimally use your robotic pool cleaner.  In fact, I bet that this is the reason that most of you are reading this article.   Here are my best robotic pool cleaners tips.

  1. Make sure there are not objects on the swimming pool bottom.  You need to make sure that all of your kids swimming pool toys are out of the pool so that your vacuum does not get stuck on them or suck them up.
  2. Only turn on the cleaner after you put it into the water.  The device is not designed to run out of water and plugging it in out of water can damage your unit.
  3. Make sure that you have some spare parts on hand.  I recommend having extra drive belts and swimming pool vacuum filter bags.  I really like the disposable filter bags.
  4. Don’t store your automatic swimming pool vacuum outside.  Make sure that you put it in your shed or garage.  Otherwise it can rust or wear out the drive belts.

I hope that these robotic pool cleaners tips help you!!

Robotic Pool Cleaners – Welcome

Welcome to Robotic Pool Cleaners.  I created this page to help those pool owners who are beginning to hate that they bought a pool because of the cleaning and maintenance that is involved.  I too have felt this, but buying a robotic pool cleaner, can change that feeling of dread almost immediately.

When we were looking for houses to buy, we struggled with whether to buy a house with a pool.  But, then we decided that the kids would get hours of entertainment out of it so we broke down.  At the time, I knew that cleaning the pool wouldn’t be my favorite chore, but I figured that it wouldn’t be that bad.

However, after the initial euphoria of owning a pool wore off, I began to dread the task.  I work long hours during the week so I don’t have time to clean the pool during the work week.  Therefore, I had to squeeze the pool vacuuming into the weekend, along with mowing the yard and all of the other house chores.

But, my dread has ended with the purchase of an automatic swimming pool vaccuum.  Robotic pool cleaners make taking care of a swimming pool so much easier.  That is why I have decided to create this site.  To help my fellow pool owners find robotic pool cleaners right for them and their swimming pools.
